Set Ups
Over forty years with my husband Jim, I still continue to be amazed by some of his life adventures. In fact I have just written a chapbook about them, “Devotionals”, which I hope will be published in the future.
Here is one poem from the collection, “Fifteen Minutes of Fame”, just published in MacQueens’s Quinterly. Jim, through a neighbor and friend on Horatio Street, was invited as a “blind date” for Andy Warhol, as a part of a “blind date club.” Of course how could an adventurer say “No” to such an interesting opportunity!
But sometimes Set-Ups and just that. Forced encounters that never quite played out as we may have hoped.
I still love hearing Jim recount the evening. And perhaps it will bring back memories of your own similar dating adventures that sounded better off than they actually played out. Hope you will enjoy his adventure with Andy!

And thanks for your help crafting this Carol!
You really capture the moment of Warhol’s disappointment. Love the haikus. Excellent!
